Teams in the DSA Challenge; Winner of the Elementary Medium DSA Challenge and was part of both the Gauteng Novice and Open Team SA Championships.
During my 27 years of riding experience I have trained with Natalie Hobday, Karen Keller, Caroline Potts, Bryce McCall, Annamarie Essilinger and Dominey Alexander in South Africa. Whilst positioned in the UK I trained and competed under Peter Storr, Jenni Lorriston-Clarke and Jane Bredin with a brief period in Switzerland with Hans Staub. I still travel to Europe to ride with Lenus van Leuren and Pammy Hutton. I currently have a string of more than 8 horses competing from Prelim to Prix St George and Intermediare 1.
In addition I train a number of pupils who are competing across Children’s, Juniors and Adults in all disciplines.
Kim Husband |EQASA International Level 1 Coach | Mpumalanga CEEPSA Representative
Apprentice Saddle Fitter
Horses has always been a huge part of my life and even when I decided to trade in my boots for an office desk I would always end up back at the yard and invariably back with my horses.
I graduated from the Racing & Equestrian Academy in 2004 and decided it was time to gain some international experience. I worked in a variety to yards in the UK gaining valuable experience in management of yards, riding, competing and instruction. I was very fortunate to be able to compete on a clients horse whilst there and this is where my love of dressage began!
Once back in SA, my husband and I worked in a few yards before opening and successfully running our competitive livery yard in Benoni. It was during this time I was fortunate enough to be sent over to the UK to train under the guidance of Albion Saddle Makers in Walsall. I was in awe with the craftsmanship involved in the making of a saddle and the skill with then fitting the saddle to a horses back. It is safe to say at this point THE BUG BIT!It wasn’t unfortunately until a few years later that I was able to get back into saddle fitting. In 2017 we made a big move to Nelspruit Mpumalanga and it was here I was able to restart my saddle fitting passion once again. Under the superb guidance of Siobhan and Lynda Records over the past three years my skills have been fine tuned! I am so very fortunate to have such excellent mentors that have given me the tools to turn my passion into a career!
This year I have been invited to the UK to formalise my skills and compete my saddle fitting qualification. It is a huge honor and I am very much looking forward to the opportunity.
